Artist Statement
Hands-on learning has given me the experience to be creative,
giving me a ‘can do’ attitude.
Painting different themes and using new techniques lets my creativity flow.
I am a contemporary realism painter,
allowing the “Artistic Dreamer” in me to grow and blossom as an Artist.
Artist Bio
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
― Thomas Merton, No Man Is an Island
Living in many places...and though each at different stages of my life, art was always there. My creativity never stopped, but my hearing did. From age 18, I began to lose my hearing and over the years I became more and more shut-off from the rest of the world, eventually becoming deaf.
With a multimedia art set, I began to perfect my skill....the paintings became the words I could not hear or say. For years I was a "hobby" artist, painting realism in acrylics, and giving them away to friends and family.
I was blessed to be able to get a Cochlear Implant, and now can hear and converse with others! With my new "ear" I found my self-confidence again. I started volunteering and taking art classes at an art institute to loosen my brush strokes, learn different techniques, and establish myself as an artist. I found my passion for texture and realism with a hint of abstract using mixed media. I am ready to share my passion with the world!
“I search for the realness, the real feeling of a subject, all the texture around it... I always want to see the third dimension of something... I want to come alive with the object.”
Andrew Wyeth
